Let’s build a legacy, together

By expanding our tutoring facility, we can transform a nation – student by student.

What
With your help, we’re building a small two-classroom addition that will double our tutoring capacity in Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

When
We’re raising funds between now and Sept. 30.

How much
We need $10,000; a donor has pledged to match up to $5,000!

Why
Our tutoring facility is full and we cannot accept new students despite a waiting list. In the DRC, tutoring isn’t for the elite or advantaged but for students whose future depends on passing their exams. Tutoring can save families from poverty.

How do I give?
Through PayPal, our website or U.S. Mail. However, you give, just specify “Building Expansion Fund.”

Maybe you or your children have experienced after-school tutoring. If so, you know its value.

Tutoring in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is markedly different than anything in the U.S. or Europe.

Here’s how.

In the West, tutoring often gives high-achieving students an extra edge. Or it helps students who are struggling with a specific topic to keep up.

In the DRC, tutoring is much harder to come by and vastly more expensive.

And it can make or break a student. The educational system is rigorous and grades depend on exams. In addition, families must pay tuition – even for public school. Because of this, some children (usually girls) never receive an education. The idea of paying out additional scarce dollars for tutoring is an impossibility for most households.

Yet the financial and social costs of failing a grade are devastating and can set students back years. Some never recover.

This is where we come in.

Future Hope Africa provides high-quality academic tutoring on a wide range of subjects for free. As a result, there is a huge demand for our services and a waiting list. We serve about 60 students and have hit a ceiling because we have no more room.

The needs are great, but … we have teachers ready to serve additional students. And we have a plan – one that includes you.

We’re ready to build and furnish a small two-classroom addition that will double our capacity. Plans have already been drawn.

In addition to tutoring, the facility will house our summer classes, an office for our Focus Business School and other activities.

With your help, a practical, sustainable difference can be made in the lives of numerous families for years to come.

Your part(nership)
We need your help to raise $10,000 for the building. Even small gifts matter because construction costs in the DRC are low compared to the U.S. and Europe. In addition, an anonymous donor has pledged to match up to $5,000. That means every gift counts double.

If we meet our goal during our September campaign, we can begin the construction process Oct. 1. That means we can impact students in the current school year.

This will allow us to Kaza Mwendo (keep moving).

Thank you for your generosity!
