SpacerPad

The sanitary pad Spacerpad was developed within the framework of a multidisciplinary innovation project at the University of Borås in Sweden starting in 2017. The pad is easy to clean, quick-drying, and durable over time, which reduces costs and creates conditions for dignified menstrual hygiene. Spacerpad is a social enterprise with a vision to promote dignified menstrual health for all who menstruate. This means striving to ensure that all women have access to effective menstrual protection, regardless of their economic or environmental circumstances. 

Their solution has evolved from offering a technically innovative, sustainable, and easy-to-maintain pad to encompassing a holistic concept that empowers women. Through close collaboration with local partners around the world, like Future Hope Africa, they enable local ownership of the production and distribution of Spacerpad products. This work supports industrial development, educational opportunities, and new employment – fostering sustainable development on multiple levels.

We are proud to partner with Spacerpad as we make it possible to get their innovative feminine hygiene products in the hands of females in D.R. Congo. They make it possible for women with limited access to water and costly disposable products to be unencumbered and set free from shame and inconvenience of a monthly menstrual cycle.
